The book DARK SHOT will be presented by Katerina Thomadaki in dialogue with the anthropologist Miranda Terzopoulou.
DARK SHOΤ links, as if in a cinematic montage, images of Maria Klonaris’ face, alongside her drawings and verses by her unpublished poetry collections. It is about a visual gesture which reformulates the intensity of a presence through absence. A major artist of Greek diaspora , Maria Klonaris was born in Egypt and lived in three cities: Alexandria, Athens and Paris, where in collaboration with Katerina Thomadaki, created a composite, avant-garde body of work which obtained universal appeal.
In 2014 she passed away unexpectedly.
Numerous tributes were dedicated to her internationally (Centre Pompidou, Jeu de Paume, British Film Institute, Radio France, Australian Radio, Centre de Cultura Contemporània, Barcelona, etc).
The tribute at the Benaki Museum is the first one to be dedicated in her memory in Greece.
